By using the installtion kit you are able to hard wire the controller in a compartment. This will keep it out of the weather and by not having plugged in at the pedastal it can't be stolen.

5-foot, 50 Amp cord with male plug 50 Amp female receptacle for the service cord

STEP 1 Follow your power cord to its connection at the RV. It will be in a metal ‘transformer switch’ box. (If your RV has a cord reel installed, its connection box may be too small for the wiring. Try to locate the transfer switch box.)
STEP 2 Remove the cover from the box and look carefully at the wires coming in from your cord. The are three (3) wires: #1 GREEN (GROUND), #2 White (NEUTRAL) and #3 BLACK (HOT).
STEP 3 Write down the colors associated with each of the wires. Don’t take chances! The best way is to tag the wires. Now, disconnect the wires of your cord going into the box. Remove the cord from the box. STEP 4 Install the new 5 foot long cord (furnished with the kit) into the box where you removed your original power cord. The new cord is equipped with eyelets for connections under bolts. If you are using wide nuts, remove the eyelets. Attach the new wires colorfor- color to the wiring in your RV. Tighten all connections. Replace the cover on the box.
STEP 5 Remove the cover from the receptacle (furnished with the kit). The terminals must remain with the larger (front) half of the receptacle.
STEP 6 Cut and strip your original cord wiring as shown (below). Lay this end through the opening of the receptacle. Looking at the inside of the receptacle with the cord toward you, the center green screw is for the GREEN wire. To its right is a silver screw, which is for the WHITE wire. The left screw if for the BLACK wire. To maintain correct polarity, do not switch the locations of the terminals. Tighten all connections.
STEP 7 At your option, attach the receptacle to the wall inside your RV’s electrical compartment. Reinstall the cover. YOU’RE DONE! To install the PowerMaster Voltage Controller, simply connect it between the new receptacle and the new 5 foot cord and turn on the breakers. To bypass the PowerMaster Voltage Controller, just unplug it and connect the 5 foot cord directly to the new receptacle. 30 AMP VOLTAGE CONTROLLER INSTALLATION KIT INSTRUCTIONS For installation of a 30 Amp PowerMaster Voltage Controller inside or nearby your RV’s electrical compartment. For RVs with hardwired 30 amp power supplies. IMPORTANT: Failure to wire as instructed may cause personal injury and could cause damage to equipment. Installation should be done by an experienced and qualified RV electrician if you do not feel comfortable attempting this yourself. These instructions will work with MOST manufactured RVs, but we cannot guarantee results. WARNING: TURN OFF ALL A.C. POWER BREAKERS. REMOVE THE POWER CORD FROM PARK POWER. IF YOU HAVE AN INVERTER, TURN IT OFF.
